Make it Possible.

We are just starting, and while very fortunate to be funded by the California Arts Council and The Inland SoCal Creative Corps for our first program, Pottery for Generations, we have big dreams! Future programs we envision include:

  • After school elementary clay program in collaboration with Mariposa Parent-Child Workshop and Dr. Carreon Academy.

  • After school high school art and craft program. Visual art is not mandatory in high schools and often students don’t “have room in their schedule” for art. Lauren is a seasoned high school art teacher and sees and feels the need for creative students to have an outlet. Whether for mental health, a social gathering place, something to do, or serious art students that envision a career in the arts, she wants to open the studio for individual mentoring and building a creative community for high schoolers.

  • Creative Aging program that can grow our elders talents, sense of community and purpose, and ability to share their wisdom and stories for future generations.

  • Socially Engaged Clay projects where we design clay objects for a community purpose:

    • More Clay Less Plastic - Make utilitarian objects in clay that are traditionally contributing to the earths plastic problem.

    • Symbolic Connections - Participants design mugs for themselves and those they want to stay connected with.

    • Oxfam’s Hunger Banquet - We make low, middle, and high income plates and host an Oxfam Hunger Banquet to be eaten off our handmade dish ware.

    • Habitat for Humanity - Together we make the dishes for a new house!

    • Meals on Wheels - We create dishes for meals traditionally served on disposable plates. How can we connect these often isolated people?

    • Flip the Script - KIDS who have learned clay techniques in the studio invite their guardians and teach them to make with clay.

    • Reflect and Produce Culture - If you could have any two people sit down to have a meal together, who would you invite? Design two place settings and host a meal!

  • Stamping Classes that revive the old art form of letter writing into a regular practice that connects family and friends through the handmade.

Lauren’s biggest passion is empowering students to USE THEIR VOICE. When we say that, most people think of verbal communication. Verbal communication is limited to those that speak our language(s). VISUAL COMMUNICATION is universal. No matter what language someone speaks, if they see a photograph of someone crying, viewers around the globe understand. Visual communication is POWERFUL. What do you want to say to the world?

Please contact Lauren with any monetary or supply donations. We are grateful for your help.
